Patience God's Gambit

Patience is a mini-boss in the mod God's Gambit, and is the virtuous counterpart to Wrath.

Behavior

  • Patience wanders around the room randomly, with the timer on Patience's face counting down from 30 seconds. Patience will move faster and attack more often the closer the timer gets to 0, and upon death, Patience explodes.
    • Patience will occasionally drop a timed bomb underneath itself that detonates after a random delay, between 3 to 9 seconds. These bombs create 4 lines of fire in the cardinal directions when they explode.
    • When Patience's timer reaches 0, he will emit a cross-shaped glow, after which he will create a more powerful on-death explosion. This explosion creates a cascading line of further explosions in each of the 4 cardinal directions, spanning the length of the room.

Notes

  • Patience deals no contact damage to the player.
  • Like Wrath, Patience dies instantly if hit by a player's bomb.
  • Patience takes only 25% damage from the fire jets created by his bombs.
  • Patience's timed bombs can be detonated early by another explosion, including Patience's own on-death explosion.
  • If Patience dies from its timer running out, he will drop only a single bomb as a reward and will never drop an item.

Trivia

  • Patience is a personification of one of the Seven Heavenly Virtues. Patience is described as the ability to maintain composure in events that put strain on one's emotions. It is in opposition to the sin of Wrath, as the other is prescribed to those who fail to regulate their feelings and are prone to outbursts of anger under duress.
